Marek Bimer (b. 1962) is a multidisciplinary artist recognized as one of the most important contemporary sculptors and designers in Poland. A graduate of the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts, he grew up in Warsaw’s Old Town, in the former studio of Alina Szapocznikow and Roman Cieślewicz, surrounded by the artistic milieu of his parents: sculptors Zofia Wolska and Tadeusz Łodziana.

His sculptural practice incorporates various media, centered on organic abstraction. Over more than 45 years of artistic activity, he has engaged in continuous creative exploration. His works convey personal stories and emotions while providing viewers with ample space for their own associations, reflections, and interpretations.

In recent years, he has increasingly developed projects at the intersection of sculpture and design. Throughout his creative process, he consistently explores the tension between control and chance, allowing the material itself and natural processes to become integral elements of the artwork. Alternating between plaster, clay, resins, and metal, he creates a space for continuous experimentation with form and material.

His latest works, described as “light sculptures,” redefine the relationship between autonomous sculptural forms and functional objects. Through his unique processing techniques, he reveals extraordinary colors and textures embedded within the materials. Light intervention not only accentuates the structure of the form but also becomes one of its constitutive elements. His objects often evolve into spectacular large-scale installations.
