Heliograms by Nicolas Grospierre are exhibited in the Salle de Solomon Palace on the Isle at the Royal Łazienki Museum in Warsaw. Created through the interplay of light, color, and matter, these works fill in the blanks left left by paintings by Marcello Bacciarelli that were destroyed during World War II. This exhibition inaugurates a project that opens the historic interiors of the Palace on the Isle to contemporary art.

Heliography is a form of photography that does not use a camera. Instead, the sun serves as the primary creator. Sunlight acts upon the material, tracing abstract forms. Each work is unique and unpredictable, resulting in a sensuous interplay of light.

Created over several months in the Łazienki Royal Gardens, Nicolas Grospierre’s heliograms embody a multi-layered symbolism of the sun, linking what we see with what lies beyond the limits of our perception.
