Marcin Janusz
Marcin Janusz (b. 1991) is a Polish artist living and working in Kraków. He graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and also studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. In 2023, he earned a PhD from his alma mater.
He creates paintings and objects that incorporate references to biology, chemistry, ancient beliefs, myths, and legends. Using materials such as soil, sugar, and resin, he explores processes of transformation, cyclical change, and the relationship between the rational and the intuitive. His practice often adopts a multisensory dimension, engaging not only sight but also evoking imagined sensations of touch, taste, and smell.
His works have been exhibited at the Xawery Dunikowski Museum of Sculpture at Królikarnia, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Cricoteka in Kraków, Zachęta – National Gallery of Art, and FIERMAN Gallery in New York, among others. He is represented by LETO Gallery.
