On the Road

State Gallery of Art in Sopot
June 12 – August 23, 2026

Since June 12, the State Gallery of Art in Sopot has been presenting On the Road, a solo exhibition by Xawery Wolski. Among the works on display is Black-and-White Circle, a piece from the dela.art collection.

The exhibition draws inspiration from the artist’s remarkable biography. For more than three decades, Wolski lived across Europe, Latin America, and Asia. These travel experiences shaped his artistic language, blending diverse cultural traditions, materials, and techniques.

On the Road features sculptures, installations, and drawings that reflect Wolski’s enduring interest in memory, journeys, and the relationship between humanity, nature, and the surrounding environment. The show offers an opportunity to view the artist’s practice as a record of continuous movement across places, cultures, and experiences.

Curator: Eulalia Domanowska

The exhibition also features Black-and-White Circle, a piece from the dela.art collection. Made of interwoven terracotta beads, the work references traditional textile techniques, which, in Wolski’s practice, become a metaphor for the interweaving of cultures, traditions, and human experiences. The use of terracotta – a material derived from the earth – evokes primordial methods of creation and the centuries-old relationship between humanity and nature, a theme that remains central to the artist’s work.
