The Rapture

The solo exhibition The Rapture showcasing works by Sana Shahmuradova Tanska at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow MOCAK, explores themes of memory, origin, trauma, and identity shaped by the experiences of migration and return. The artist’s works draw on both personal and collective histories, examining transgenerational trauma. A key element of the exhibition is the panoramic frieze The Rapture, composed of twelve individual works, one of which is part of the dela.art collection.

The Rapture unfolds as a narrative of memory and transformation. Ethereal figures merge with landscapes, trees, and roots, emphasizing the inseparable bond between humans and nature and the cyclical nature of life. The title evokes religious connotations. In the artist’s paintings, dreams, myths, and reality intertwine, while her personal history and the experience of contemporary Ukraine are transformed into reflections on trauma, survival, and spiritual renewal.
