Wojciech Ireneusz Sobczyk
Phenomenon
Wojciech Ireneusz Sobczyk’s openwork compositions are crafted from repetitive patterns meticulously cut into paper. The artist draws inspiration from the principles of movement, balance, and natural structures.
Central to these works is the circle – a shape without beginning or end, long associated with cyclicality, harmony, and infinity. The recurring rhythms and precisely cut motifs reveal the underlying order concealed within the complexity of the surrounding world.
As the artist himself suggests, “When we describe the world, we describe it in a simplified way.” The works resonate with the mandala motif, which occupies a significant place in the dela.art collection, while also reflecting Sobczyk’s distinctive artistic exploration of paper as a creative medium.
