Tamara Berdowska

“Rhythm” exhibition

Untitled, from the Insomnia series
2019,
Oil on canvas,
195 x 300 cm

Tamara Berdowska’s works are hypnotic; they serve as a painterly record of emotions, with imagination playing the most crucial role in them. The artist explores various states of consciousness through her work.

The Insomnia series utilizes the language of geometric abstraction to challenge the boundaries between sleep and reality. A precisely combined range of grays not only gives the image a rhythmic harmony but can also evoke a slight sense of anxiety.

Spacial composition
2010,
Celluloid, wood and metal frame,
140 x 250 x 100 cm

The two-dimensional drawings overlap in the installation, creating the illusion of a three-dimensional form. The static composition seems to constantly pulsate.

The artist, assuming that the microcosm and macrocosm, the universe and man, are constructed according to one principle, creates her works by duplicating simple geometric patterns that can be interpreted as the smallest elements of all organisms and things.
